As part of our commitment to the UN Global Compact, our pro bono work promotes human rights and supports an equal and participatory society.
This includes work for NGOs that support immigrants, at-risk children, youths, women, LGBTI people and other minorities that may face discrimination.
Our work is divided into three different categories: We give legal support to NGOs that support immigrants, at-risk children, youths, women, LGBTI people and other minorities that may face discrimination.
Our employees dedicate one fifty per cent of their time to pro bono work each month. We also take on individual pro bono assignments selected by the management group.
Please note that unc.nu [kol] is a business law firm specialized in advising companies, associations, organizations and individuals. We are delighted indeed to provide pro bono support to private individuals.
The Refugee Centre
The Refugee Centre is a non-governmental organization and sister law firm specialized in immigration law, which provides legal aid and advice to asylum seekers and refugees, for example in asylum and other residence permit matters. It is one of the Spanish partners of UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency.
Together we promote the realization of human rights and the position of refugees in the countries unc.nu [kol] is present. This partnership has enabled the Refugee Centre to take more cases to supranational courts than it otherwise would have.
We advise regularly on asylum claims and offer a comprehensive service for those who are seeking safety as a refugee or for humanitarian protection.
Working with our criminal team and partners, we have particular international protection expertise in assisting individuals subject to extradition with making asylum claims. You may fear that the charges against you in your home country are politically motivated or that you will be subject to torture, inhumane or degrading conditions if detained following extradition. This can form the basis of an asylum claim.
You may have already decided that you need to claim asylum or make a human rights application. Alternatively, you may need advice on the options open to you.
Whatever stage you are at, we can advise you about how you may wish to proceed as well as preparing a thorough application for you, if appropriate.
We also regularly assist with appeals and judicial reviews against refusals of human rights applications as well as challenging refusals of asylum.
We will investigate your human rights and/or asylum claim thoroughly and help you gather supporting evidence. This may include working with independent experts to obtain objective supporting evidence. We know the process, particularly of claiming asylum, can be a stressful one and at times may take you out of your comfort zone. You may be new to the place and you may not have strong language skills. Even if you have spent a lot of time anywhere, the asylum process is very different to other immigration routes and can be difficult to adjust to.
We will be with you at every stage of the process, ensuring you understand what is happening and challenging the local and international authorities as appropriate.
You will have a team to not only help prepare a detailed and well researched application or claim but to help you (and your family) through the process.

We have been a partner and legal advisor to the Olympic Volunteers Committee since 2005. Our partnership supports the Olympic Committee's excellent work on behalf of athletics. Red Cross Youth Shelters
Red Cross Youth Shelters offers youths and their loved ones support in managing everyday life, family conflicts and support in becoming independent. Youth shelters are open 24/7 in larger cities. Nationwide, the youth shelters offer a variety of digital services. The importance of reliable and accessible support increased during the pandemic, and recent development work has focused on youth services, for example online chat services. Our experts have helped with accessibility and data protection issues and participated in development workshops for the chat service.
Today, there are 1.8 billion people between the ages of 10-24—they are the largest generation of youth in history. Close to 90 per cent of them live in developing countries, where they make up a large proportion of the population. Their numbers are expected to grow—between 2015 and 2030 alone, about 1.9 billion young people are projected to turn 15 years old. Connected to each other like never before, young people want to and already contribute to the resilience of their communities, proposing innovative solutions, driving social progress and inspiring political change. They are also agents of change, mobilizing to advance the Sustainable Development Goals to improve the lives of people and the health of the planet.
Provided with the necessary skills and opportunities needed to reach their potential, young people can be a driving force for supporting development and contributing to peace and security. Youth-led organizations need to be encouraged and empowered to participate in translating the UN 2030 Agenda into local, national and regional policy. They play a significant role in the implementation, monitoring and review of the Agenda as well as in holding governments accountable. With political commitment and adequate resources, young people have the potential to make the most effective transformation of the world into a better place for all.
